From 1999-2002, after listening to electronic dance music for 5 years, Mokolai got his start in Boone, North Carolina, building a solid foundation with house parties and after parties.
A 6-month weekly residency @ Phenix in Hickory, NC cemented his ability to manage the night's musical lineup and still contribute 2 and 3-hour sets.
In the spring of 2002, Mokolai headed to Orlando, FL, with a focus on studio production and creating his own tracks.
Over the next 5 years, he immersed himself in all aspects of studio production and honing his new skills.
2008 brought Mokolai back to North Carolina and back to the turntables, and would also bring his first production release.
In November of 2008, IQ Sounds released Mokolai's Dirty House Mix of "To Dream", featuring Laura Michaels.
In order to showcase North Carolina-related EDM talent, in April of 2009, Mokolai and Billie Blaze launched NCDJ Podcast, a bi-weekly, downloadable 2-hour podcast.
In 2010, Mokolai began a new collaborative partnership with vocalist and yogini Christine Navarro.
Her Sanskrit and Tibetan chants will be featured on their upcoming album, which includes ambient tracks for yoga studios and remixes of various genres.
